Matthew (Matt) Duvall is a Principal in the Assurance Services Group at E. Cohen. He has been with the firm since 2016 and has more than 18 years of experience providing auditing, accounting, tax, and consulting services to a broad range of clients in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, including nonprofit organizations, government contractors, and employee benefit plans.
Matt’s specialization is with nonprofit organizations, where he has expertise in providing financial audits, reviews, and compilations; compliance audits under OMB Uniform Guidance for single audits; internal control evaluations; and providing tax and assurance services to trade associations, membership organizations, charities, and religious organizations. He is responsible for researching and implementing new accounting and auditing standards as well as other professional guidance within the Assurance Services Group.
Matt is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA’s Nonprofit Section, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA), the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (GWSCPA), the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and the Finance and Administration Roundtable (FAR). He is a contributor to the Nonprofit Accounting Basics website run by the GWSCPA Educational Foundation and most recently presented on the topic of revenue recognition at FAR. Previously, he was honored as one of “Howard County’s 39 Finest Under 39.”
