Kimberly Hodor Maxwell (Kim) is the Principal of E. Cohen and Company’s Not-For Profit Services Group. She has over 25 years of experience in providing auditing, accounting, tax and consulting services to a broad range of clients in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.
Kim’s expertise relates to the following industries: not-for-profit organizations, professional services, real estate, HUD assisted properties, mortgage lenders, government contractors, retirement plans, healthcare, retail and wholesale.
Kim has significant audit experience pertaining to compliance and internal control analysis, accounting policy and procedures, design and integration of accounting systems, and governmental audits under OMB’s Uniform Guidance. She has an in-depth knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards as well as single audit compliance.
As part of her consulting experience, Kim works with businesses and not-for-profit entities to prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and business plans. She works with organizations to customize reports based on management’s needs and reviews their internal controls to implement procedures to safeguard assets. This work is integrated with the tax planning for the entity and owners. She has also prepared business valuations for the gifting of stock certificates and various mergers and acquisitions.
Kim was named one of the Washington, D.C. region’s top business executives in the SmartCEO Magazine SmartCPA Readers’ Choice section. She was recognized for her outstanding technical insight, guidance and skill in strengthening the financial management systems of businesses and not-for-profit entities, advising on financial decisions pertaining to internal control systems and business forecasting.
Kim is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and the American Association of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
