Benjamin (Ben) Schabert, CPA, EA is a Senior Accountant in E. Cohen’s Tax Services Group. He brings over 15 years of experience in tax research and complex tax preparation to the firm. He is responsible for assisting the firm’s Tax Services Group with accurate and timely tax services and train staff level accountants.
Prior to joining E. Cohen, Ben worked as a Senior Tax Accountant at a local accounting firm based in Bethesda, MD, where he prepared complex fiduciary, partnership, S-corporation, gift, high-net-worth individual, and non-profit returns for filing, as well as worked directly with clients to prepare year-end income projections for partnerships and S-corporations. He also previously worked as a Senior Tax Accountant at an accounting firm in Virginia, where he prepared quarterly estimated tax projections for high-net-worth individuals, performed monthly write-up work for small businesses and non-profits to record, organize, and reconciled their company financials, and assisted firm principals with performing off-site inventory audits, compiling results, and preparing post-audit reports to clients.
He has expert-level knowledge of CCH ProSystemFX, Lacerte Tax, and ProSeries Tax software, and is experienced with Quickbooks Accounting, Quickbooks Online Accounting, and Microsoft Office. He is also experienced with TurboTax Tax, ProStaff Scheduling, Peachtree Accounting, and XCM Tasking.
Ben graduated with an Accounting Careers Studies Certificate from Northern Virginia Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Randolph-Macon College. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is also an IRS Enrolled Agent.
