Food for Montgomery is a coordinated public-private response effort which started due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative focuses on marshalling the resources of county government, the knowledge and connections of food providers, and the generous donations of hundreds of individuals and businesses to address the drastic increase in food insecurity among households in Montgomery County, MD. The initiative partners work to provide food assistance and essential supplies to more than 114,000 Montgomery County residents struggling with food insecurity. “The 1 in 10 people experiencing food insecurity in our community include children, seniors, low-income essential workers, and families rebounding the loss of breadwinners and caregivers due to COVID,” said Anna Hargrave, Executive Director for Montgomery County at The Community Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to E. Cohen for partnering with The Community Foundation once again to ensure our neighbors will be able to access nourishing food necessary to stay healthy and recover from the pandemic.
